Rachel Ruysch (1664-175) was a still life master from Amsterdam during the Golden Age. I studied a lot of her work in the Dutch Golden Age class I took at State. I can't wait to see a preview of her stuff when I go to the exhibit the the De Young and even MORE pieces when we go to Amsterdam.
Still life honestly doesn't do too much for me as far as my aesthetics go. I'm mostly into abstract stuff, but if you look at the incredible amount of detail, I feel speechless.
Judith Leyster was another woman artist of the Dutch Golden Age who kicks just as much ass are Ruysch, Rembrandt and the Hals brothers.
